Are You Vegan? Which Vivix Should You Choose?
Category: Healthy Nutrition
Cellular deterioration is inevitable. It occurs naturally, regardless of where we are, what we do, and what type of food we consume. However, clinical studies have proven that there are several everyday habits you can practice to help slow down the aging process.
From eating a healthy diet to avoiding too much exposure to the sun, staying hydrated to getting enough sleep, these minor lifestyle changes allow your body to keep your cells healthy or efficiently replace the ones that die and repair those that get damaged.
Telomeres and Cellular Aging
In simple terms, telomeres are caps at the end of each strand of DNA that serve to protect the chromosomes. If you imagine your chromosomes as shoelaces, the telomeres are the plastic tips that keep them from fraying.
Telomeres are tiny pieces of DNA that are critical to our ability to stay young as we get older.
Between 50 and 70 billion cells in our body die each day as part of our normal growth or development. To replace these, healthy cells divide themselves. However, this process shortens the telomeres until they are no longer capable of protecting the chromosomes, which leads to cell deterioration that we typically see as aging.
Staying Healthy and Keeping Your Cells Strong
Aside from maintaining a balanced diet and living a healthy lifestyle, you can also use supplements such as Shaklee’s Vivix to help keep your cells strong and stay young inside and out.
Backed by six patents, Vivix contains a proprietary, all-natural blend of diverse polyphenols, which are plant-based chemicals that provide numerous health benefits.
Laboratory and clinical studies have demonstrated the ability of key Vivix ingredients to:
- activate cellular defenses
- neutralize harmful free radicals
- slow the development of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) that can damage the cells
- improve mitochondrial function (mitochondria are the powerhouses inside your cells)
- protect DNA from damage
These ingredients were also shown to blunt the inflammatory response that normally occurs from an unhealthy meal, which over time can lead to cellular aging. And there is clinical evidence that Vivix, in combination with certain vitamins and minerals, helps protect eye health.
In a study of long-term Shaklee supplement users, almost all of whom reported using Vivix, telomeres were significantly longer in Shaklee users in their 40s, 50s and 60s, compared to healthy, non-smoking controls.
If you’re a vegan, you have the option of choosing the liquid form of either the regular Vivix, which includes muscadine grape extract, or Kosher Vivix. The Vivix Liquicaps contain gelatin, which is animal-derived.
Dr. Daggy says: On the same principle that one should eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, I and others I know like to alternate between regular and Kosher Vivix. Kosher Vivix is not simply a kosher version of the same product.
The muscadine grape, an especially rich source of a wide range of plant polyphenols, cannot currently be processed under kosher conditions. So Shaklee scientists found other sources of plant polyphenols to substitute for the muscadine. In laboratory studies, both the regular and kosher products were effective at cellular protection.
So, all vegetarians—including vegans—can have peace of mind knowing that they’re getting the same benefits without compromising any health, ethical, or environmental considerations.
